A Journey from the Caribbean to AI

My story begins on the vibrant shores of Dominica, a gem in the Caribbean where the rhythm of island life shaped my early years. This small but mighty island instilled in me a deep appreciation for community and an understanding that the most beautiful innovations often come from adapting to one's environment.

The Alaskan Adventure

Life took an unexpected turn when I found myself in Anchorage, Alaska - about as far from the Caribbean as one could imagine. For nine years, I embraced the stunning contrasts of the Last Frontier. During the long summer days, you'd find me camping under the midnight sun or fishing in crystal-clear streams. The winter months were spent diving deep into code at GeoNorth, where I became fluent in the languages of C# and SQL Server.

The vastness of Alaska taught me that the best systems, like nature itself, are both robust and adaptable. Each debugging session felt like tracking through fresh snow - methodical, purposeful, and ultimately rewarding.

Silicon Valley and the Big Apple

The energy of San Francisco called next, where ThoughtWorks became my dojo for four transformative years. In the heart of Silicon Valley, I learned that great software is as much about the people who build it as the code itself. Agile wasn't just a methodology; it became a mindset that shaped how I approached challenges and collaborated with teams.

Then came the bright lights of New York City and NBCUniversal, where I orchestrated distributed systems that reached millions. The city's pace and scale pushed me to think bigger, build more resilient systems, and understand that every line of code has a story to tell.

The Independent Explorer

The journey led me to independent contracting, where I found my stride building large-scale distributed systems. Like a chef combining ingredients, I worked with technologies like Kafka to create symphonies of event-driven architectures. Each project added new flavors to my technical palette, from real-time processing to resilient microservices.

Today, I'm charting new territories in data engineering and AI, bringing together everything I've learned from the Caribbean's adaptability, Alaska's resilience, Silicon Valley's innovation, and New York's scale. It's a journey that continues to evolve, driven by the same curiosity that started on a small island in the Caribbean.
